- How long does an EPC last?
- An EPC is normally valid for 10 years.
- Do I need an EPC to sell my house?
- Generally, homes being sold in England and Wales need a valid EPC, subject to limited exemptions.
- Can I sell a house with an expired EPC?
- You will generally need to arrange a valid EPC when marketing a property if the existing one has expired and no exemption applies.
- What happens if my house doesn't have an EPC?
- It may simply never have required one, or an old certificate may no longer be in the current dataset. If you intend to sell, arranging an EPC is usually one of the early sale-preparation steps.
- Does a low EPC rating stop me selling my house?
- Generally, no. Minimum energy-efficiency rules affecting rented property are a separate issue from whether an owner can sell the property.
